Is my TV worth repairing ?
Answer
Some items are worth repairing while others are not. Once our technicians diagnose
and test your TV, he will determine if it is worth fixing. The only time a TV in not
worth fixing is if the CRT (Picture Tube) is defective and replacing it would be as
much as replacing the entire TV. This is very rare though.
Is my TV worth fixing at all if it is between 5-10 years old ?
Answer
If a TV has given you years of trouble free service before it started
giving you problems then it definitely is worth having it checked. The problem
may not be as bad as you may think and repairing it may cost you less than replacing it entirely.
The estimate is close to what I can pay for a new TV, I can buy a new TV for a few more dollars. What's your suggestion ?
Answer
Not necessarily, there are lots of cheaply made inferior no brand name TVs out there,
but you get what you pay for. If the TV you are repairing is a high-quality expensive set,
then in all likelihood, you've had it in use for years. If you pay a few extra dollars for a
new TV rather than having that one fixed, you'll likely end up with a TV of far less quality.
My TV was working last night, but I cannot turn it on now. What went wrong ?
Answer
Most people think the power on/off switch is defected. There are different
things that can cause this problem. However, defective power supplies and horizontal
circuits are usual suspects. This problem in common and is repairable.
My TV has one thin, straight color line across in the middle of the screen. Is the picture tube bad ?
Answer
No, the picture tube is good, but the TV vertical deflection circuit
has failed, and it can be repaired. Mistakenly, many TV owners tend to think
their picture tube is bad.
